Roach Area Fairways and Conservation Committee (RAFCC)

The RAFCC has run for approximately 50 years, It seems we were formed 30th January 1974 after the then newly formed committee of the RSA , formed a year before just to gain access to the newly formed Crouch Harbour Authorities Advisory Committee . They noted at the time that via the then existing CAYF they would only have a 14th of a vote and thus thought via the RAFCC they could have possibly more influence in the CHA Advisory Committee with their own seat? The then 1974 Crouch Harbour Act covers this.

It must be noted it was really the Parish Councils that had the lead but were not wishing to be involved as they had their own allocated seat on the CHA Advisory Committee.

Over the years we have sorted various issues on the Roach and have represented the users of the river and backwaters on many issues. But in recent years as many issues were being dealt with by other organisations there has been little to nothing raised to the RAFCC as a problem. In the past we tried to engage Parish Councils and other bodies but have had no real response.

The officers have self-funded the web site for the past few years but we have recently been told that an additional monthly charge is set to be introduced.

Thus we have at present a web site which we have checked is no longer visited and gave notice 30 days ago of our intentions to close down the site, this has been exceeded with no contacts made so unfortunately we are set to close as of today. The CHA and CAYF will be notified.
